The 33-year-old said he ‘apologises profusely’ for his comment on stage.
‘In regards to what I said on stage earlier, it was a bit stupid! Love the people, the food and the venues!’ Williams wrote.
‘What was said was in the heat of the moment after a WICKED GAME vs Martin!
‘Nothing was meant to harm anyone’s feelings and I apologise profusely! Much love.’
Williams will now advance to play either 10th seed Damon Heta or Berry van Peer, with the two set to meet on Friday afternoon.
