Tiger Woods is facing a legal dispute over the logo for his new golf apparel brand, Sun Day Red, which launched in May 2024. The Louisiana-based company Tigeraire has accused Woods’ brand of unlawfully copying their tiger logo. Tigeraire, which specializes in cooling products for athletes, claims that Sun Day Red’s logo, featuring a tiger with 15 stripes to represent Woods’ major championship wins, is too similar to their own trademarked logo.
Tigeraire filed an opposition notice with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, arguing that Woods’ logo infringes on their established trademark and could lead to consumer confusion. This dispute has caused Sun Day Red’s trademark application to be temporarily halted. Despite this, TaylorMade, which backs Woods’ brand, has expressed confidence in resolving the matter and securing the trademark.
Both sides are expected to attempt a resolution before the case escalates further, but for now, Woods and his brand must respond to the opposition by early November 2024 .
