Take a look at what occurred to Scottie Scheffler, the top player in the world, during the Tour Championship on Sunday.On the driveable par-4 eighth, Scheffler found the greenside bunker and sank into the sand, getting ready to hit what appeared to be a typical shot from the trap. Then he unleashed a chilly shank that would have embarrassed a 25-handicapper. His ball shot out of the sand with a direct shot from the hosel. Finally, 36 yards past the pin, it came to rest in a perilous position behind the bunker behind the green. In the end, Scheffler shot a bogey, cutting his lead over Collin Morikawa to two.Following his shank-caused bogey, Scheffler blasted a 4-iron to five feet on the par-3 ninth hole. On the tenth and eleventh holes, he added two more par-breakers after recovering with a birdie there.Yes, Scheffler proved once again why he is the finest golfer in the world by making three consecutive birdies after he shanked it out of the bunker.
