Breaking news : Simone Biles’ feud with Jonathan Owens for best athlete ends after dangerous tumble by Bears star
The two athletes are competitive despite their love for one another
Simone Biles and husband Jonathan Owens are never afraid to show off their competitive spirit, and it’s one of the reasons why they’ve excelled in their respective fields.
They also never hold back in supporting one another, with Owens being with Biles at every step of her Paris Olympics journey.
“My wife’s a warrior,” he said when asked about Biles after the end of the Games. This came after he was regularly in the stands, even taking notes on a pad like Simone’s parents, Ronald and Nellie Biles, who recorded her scores during competitions.
It seems as though all of that note-taking was for a reason, as Owens recently showed his own interest in gymnastics.
In a rehearsal for the upcoming Gold Over American Tour show, fans noted that Biles was spotting Owens as he attempted a somersault on the mat. Although his technique wasn’t the greatest, that didn’t stop him from cracking a smile when he completed the move.
Who is the better athlete?
With Owens trying his luck in gymnastics, it raised the question of which is the tougher sport. The topic has discussed before between the two, with Biles talking about during an appearance on the Back That Year Up podcast.
“We’ve tried to pin each other against [one another] on, like, difficulty, ability, and all that stuff. So, at the end of the day, gymnastics is harder, if he agrees or not,” Biles diplomatically responded when asked the question by host Kenan Thompson.
While Biles noted they’ve playfully argued about the topic, she added: “He has done my workout in the gym, and he could barely do it, and then I went to their NFL workout and I crushed it.”
It seems pretty clear which sport Biles believes is tougher, though the conversation shows just how jovial the two are when discussing their respective sports.
