Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders was the hottest topic of the 2025 NFL draft, but not necessarily for the reason that most expected.

The 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year went from being a projected first-round pick to plummeting to the fifth round, where the Cleveland Browns selected him with pick No. 144.

Although things didn’t unfold how the Sanders camp expected, the son of Deion Sanders has still been making the most of his opportunities in Cleveland.

Aside from drawing rave reviews from his OTA showings, he has also been a frequent bright spot in the community.

On Saturday, Sanders made an appearance at the youth football camp of veteran NFL corner Justin Hardee Sr. and was spotted doing his signature pose with a handful of campers.

The heartwarming moment led to his mom, Pilar Sanders, taking to Instagram to shed light on how frequently her son gives back. Pilar Sanders is the ex-wife of Shedeur’s father, Deion Sanders.

Pilar Sanders and Coach Prime were married in 1999. They finalized their divorce in 2013. The couple fought for custody of their three children, and she accused Sanders of steroid use and physical abuse.

Although she and the Colorado head coach frequently avoid one another, with Prime walking away from her during senior day for Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, the two both were constantly by the side of the Browns quarterback during his draft slide.

The Chiefs had Carson Wentz serve as their backup quarterback in 2024. In 2025, that job will belong to Gardner Minshew.

As the Chiefs finish up their offseason program, head coach Andy Reid said last week that Minshew’s experience is a positive and should aid starter Patrick Mahomes on gameday.
